ANNUALS AND PERENNIALS
Annuals are plants that perform their entire life cycle from seed-to-flower-to-seed within a single growing season. All roots, stems and leaves of the plant die annually. The whole mission of an annual is to produce seed and propagate. Deadheading or removing spent flowers before the seed matures, produces more flowers and therefore more potential seeds.

A perennial plant or simply perennial (from Latin per, meaning "through", and annus, meaning "year") is a plant that lives for many years with minimal maintenance.
Herbaceous perennials, especially small flowering plants, grow and bloom over the spring and summer, die back every autumn and winter, and then return in the spring from their rootstock.
